Hanley Event: Pensioners’ Convention Christmas Show

Pensioners ConventionThe Grey Power public meeting on Monday will be a change from the normal routine.

Alan Barrett, Stoke based artist, poet and entertainer, has arranged a show to celebrate the end of another busy year at the North Staffs Pensioners’ Convention.

He has brought together a range of local performers – Mel Baines (50’s and 60’s songs), Pete Latham (Blues, Beatles, Kinks), Richard Snell (Classical violin and folk) and Derek Wilton (Harmonica).

Alan will be introducing the acts and also performing his own poetry.

Janet Smallwood, the Chair of the Convention says it is important to sometimes have a break from fighting for older people’s rights:

“It will be great to get together to celebrate the important work that we do and enjoy ourselves at our Grey Power Christmas Show.

“I thank Alan Barrett who has organised the show for us and Alan and all the other performers who are kindly giving their time for free.

“We would be delighted to see members of the public at the meeting – I extend an open invitation to everybody to come along. All ages are welcome and admission is free.”

Grey Power Christmas Show, 10.30am – 12.15pm, 5th December 2016 at the Forum Theatre, Potteries Museum, Bethesda Street, Hanley.

Admission is free and all are welcome – members and non members alike, young, old and anybody in between.
